President Tinubu’s Democracy Day Message: Renewing Faith in Nigeria’s Democratic Future
On June 12, 2026, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu addressed Nigerians in commemoration of Democracy Day, reflecting on the country’s democratic journey, the sacrifices of past heroes, and the responsibility of today’s generation to protect and strengthen democratic institutions.

He encouraged them to build, work, vote, and contribute to national development rather than lose faith in the Nigerian project.
Security was another important point in the speech.

He highlighted ongoing recruitment into the police and military, increased defence and security funding, and stronger operations against terrorists, bandits, kidnappers, and sponsors of violence.
